Meet the Shanco Staff

Over the years, Team Shanco has grown from a 4-person operation to a team of more than 30 full-time employees. Your needs, questions and concerns are addressed immediately and professionally from the proposal request to job completion. One of our Team Members will call you to set up the initial consultation. Our Project Managers and Design Consultants will personally meet with you to assess your needs, make recommendations and will follow the project from beginning to end. All of our Field Supervisors have been carefully selected and well-trained, will be on site throughout your project and are available to you for any questions that arise. shannon-allcockShannon Allcock: President/Chief Executive Officer

Shannon started in the construction business in 1990. In 2002, he started Bartlett Exteriors to expand into the residential market. Over the past 15 years the company has expanded from roofing and exterior projects to interior remodeling, leading to the current business name of Shanco Companies encompassing all home renovations. As well as having an extensive building/renovation background, Shannon is also a licensed Maryland Home Improvement Commission salesman, an EPA Certified Lead Safe Renovator, a certified CertainTeed Master Shingle Applicator, an AirVent Expert certificate holder and has extensive training with Sunrise Windows, Simonton Windows and Pella. Shannon was born and raised in Montgomery County, and currently resides in Laytonsville, MD with his wife of 23 years and his two children.

ann-allcockAnn Allcock: Vice President/Chief Financial Officer

Ann has worked in the family business with her husband Shannon since graduating from the University of Maryland in 1988. She has played an integral part of the success and growth of Shanco Companies. Her responsibilities include the financial operations, human resources, insurance, licensing and marketing. Ann was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but was raised in Montgomery County. She currently resides in Laytonsville, MD with her husband of 23 years, her two children, her mother and the family dog Zoe.

mike-hilderbrandMike Hilderbrand: Residential Sales

Mike began working with Shanco Companies in 2002 and has over 20 years of experience in the home improvement industry. Prior to working for Shanco Companies, Mike worked as a carpenter doing historic renovations, building custom additions, and full home renovations. He is a licensed Maryland Home Improvement Commission salesman, an EPA Certified Lead Safe Renovator, a certified CertainTeed Master Shingle Applicator, a certified Duradek installer, and an AirVent Expert certificate holder. In addition, he also has received extensive training with Sunrise Windows, Simonton Windows, and Pella. Mike was born and raised in Montgomery County where he currently resides with his daughter. When asked what he likes the most about working for Shanco Companies, Mike said, “The commitment to outstanding customer service.”

dan-haskeDan Haske: Residential Sales

Dan began working with Shanco Companies in August of 2005. Prior to his employment with Shanco, he worked in the automotive industry for 20 years and the lithographic industry for 4 years. He is a licensed Maryland Home Improvement Commission salesman, an EPA Certified Lead Safe Renovator, a certified CertainTeed Master Shingle Applicator, an AirVent Expert certificate holder, and has received vast training with Sunrise Windows, Simonton Windows, and Pella. Dan was born and raised in Montgomery County, MD and currently resides in Germantown, MD with his wife of 8 years and their two children. When asked what he likes the most about working for Shanco Companies, Dan said, “The great people he works with, the customers he has met, and the fact that no two days are alike.”

phil-hallPhil Hall: Service Manager

Phil began working for Shanco Companies in 2005. He has been in the home improvement industry for almost 25 years and has experience in general construction, roofing, siding, and vast knowledge of plumbing and electrical. Phil is a licensed Maryland Home Improvement Commission salesman, an EPA Certified Lead Safe Renovator, a CertainTeed Master Shingle Applicator, and an AirVent Expert. In addition, he also has received extensive training with Sunrise Windows, Simonton Windows, and Pella. Prior to entering the home improvement industry, Phil was in the U.S. Air force. He graduated from the Air Force NCO Academy and proudly served our country. Phil is from Rockville, MD and enjoys camping trips as well as spending time with his family. When asked what he likes the most about working for Shanco Companies, he said, “the camaraderie and his co-workers’ wealth of knowledge.”

brad-youngBrad Young: Residential Sales

Brad began working for Shanco Companies in the fall of 2005 as a roofing superintendent but has since become a project manager for all aspects of exterior home improvements. Brad’s first job in the industry was working at his father’s painting company 20 years ago. He is a licensed Maryland Home Improvement Commission salesman, an EPA Certified Lead Safe Renovator, a certified CertainTeed Master Shingle Applicator, and an AirVent Expert certificate holder. In addition, he also has received extensive training with Sunrise Windows, Simonton Windows, and Pella. Brad was born in DC but raised in Silver Spring, MD as well as Damascus, MD. He currently resides in Damascus with his Norwegian Elk Hound, Marley. When asked what he likes the most about working for Shanco Companies, Brad said, “Not having to sit behind a desk all day.”

danielle-reedDanielle Reed: Administrative Assistant

Danielle started working for Shanco Companies in October of 2010. She graduated from Hood College in Frederick, MD with a Bachelor’s degree in business management with a concentration in Human Resources. Prior to working in the home improvement industry, she worked in the hospitality field for Marriott Hotels so she is no stranger to providing excellent customer service. Danielle is a key part of communication between our staff, customers, and numerous vendors while also providing assistance in the day to day office operations. Danielle was born and raised in Montgomery County, currently resides in Rockville, MD and enjoys spending time with her son Trevor.

saundra-barnhardSaundra Barnhard: Customer Service Manager

Saundra joined Shanco Companies in September 2011 doing part time marketing work. Recently, she joined our team on a full time basis to continue assisting in marketing as well as project scheduling and customer communications. Saundra has worked in various aspects of the home improvement industry for over 8 years. Prior to coming on board with Shanco Companies, Saundra gained an extensive administrative and project management background while working for MCI Telecommunications for 18 years. Saundra is a long time local resident and active part of her community. When asked what she liked best about working for Shanco, Saundra said “I like working for a company who is customer service oriented and keeps a goal of 100% customer satisfaction.”

james-barnhardJames Barnhard: Project Manager

With over 25 years of construction experience, James brought his talents to the Shanco Team during the Summer of 2012.  James has worked in every aspect of the construction/remodeling business from blue print design to drywall, carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. His attention to detail makes him a great asset on Team Shanco as a Field Supervisor.  James is also an EPA lead safe certified installer.  A long time Montgomery County resident, James enjoys spending time with his family bike riding, hiking and camping.  He’s also an expert with computer and design software.  When asked what he most liked about working with Shanco Companies, James said, “I learn something new every day.  Shanco is always working with new and improved products that make upgrades to a customer’s home easier to maintain and longer lasting.”

michael-strosniderMichael Strosnider: Commercial Division

Michael joined the Shanco Team in the spring of 2013. Coming from a large commercial roofing company, he brought Shanco over 14 years of commercial building experience. Michael oversees the commercial division handling the bidding and managing of large scale commercial projects. He also has considerable knowledge of residential exterior improvements as well as architectural metals. Michael has a degree in architectural design. He is also certified in many types of roofing materials such as Soprema, Versico, Carlisle, GAF and CertainTeed. In additional he has received training with Petersen Aluminum and James Hardie Siding. Michael lives in Montgomery County, is married to his wife Megan and enjoys spending time with their three daughters, Grace, Audrey and Claire. He spends his free time watching his daughters participate in all sorts of sports and activities. He enjoys watching football and vacationing with his family in the Carolinas. When asked what Michael likes most about working for Shanco Companies he said, “Everyone works as a team to come together and get a project complete. It’s like working with family.”

erik-patlaErik Patla: Project Manager

With over 15 years in the home improvement division, Erik brought his expertise to the Shanco Team in May of 2013. He dove right into his project management duties overseeing all types of exterior projects. Erik now works in both our residential and commercial divisions ensuring all projects are completed professionally, accurately and on time. Erik has received extensive safety training to maintain a sound working environment on all our jobsites. Born and raised in Silver Spring, Erik is no stranger to the ins and outs of Montgomery County. His greatest accomplishment would be his two beautiful children with whom he spends any free time. When asked what Erik liked most about working for Shanco Companies, he said, “I love to work for a company with such a great reputation. Team Shanco works together like a family.”

 

chrissie-bartlettChrissie Bartlett: Administrative Assistant

Chrissie joined Team Shanco in June of 2013 as an administrative assistant. Having over 25 years in the home improvement industry she brings a vast amount of knowledge and understanding of construction to Shanco Companies. Chrissie also worked for Marriott Corp for over 12 years which provided her with a tremendous amount of experience in customer service. Chrissie assists anyone and everyone around the office and does it with a smile. Originally from Rockville, Chrissie now resides in Frederick and enjoys spending time with her family and her dogs. When asked what she most likes about working for Shanco Companies, Chrissie said “Everyone working so well together!!!”

steve-harmonSteve Harmon: Residential Sales

Steve joined the Shanco team in 2001 as a project assistant doing anything and everything the company needed. He was quickly promoted to roofing project manager where he gained an immense amount of construction knowledge. After several years in the roofing management position; Steve decided to move into the sales side of things. He is currently a residential sales representative for Shanco Companies. Steve graduated from Towson University with a BS in Business Administration. He is also MHIC licensed, an EPA Certified Lead Safe Renovator, a Certainteed Master Shingle Applicator, an Air Vent Expert and has had extensive training with Sunrise, Simonton and Pella windows. Steve was born and raised in Silver Spring but currently resides in Westminster, MD. In his spare time Steve enjoys playing guitar, camping, skiing, attending concerts and traveling. When asked what he liked most about working for Shanco Companies, Steve said, “I enjoy the comraderie and fun I have with my coworkers. I also love having a job where I get to meet new people every day and help them improve their homes.”

jack-hudsonJack Hudson: Roofing Manager

Jack joined Team Shanco in September of 2013. He started with the company as a project assistant and quickly moved into assisting on remodeling and decking projects as a field supervisor. With Jack’s vast knowledge of the construction industry, he jumped at the chance to manage our roofing installation projects when the position became available. Currently, he is on site for each of our roofing projects to assist in communicating with the homeowner as well as assuring the crews are completing the installation as required. Jack has a Bachelor’s degree from Frostburg University. Originally from Laytonsville, he now resides in Frederick, MD. Jack enjoys time hiking with his dogs as well as spending time with his family. When asked what he enjoyed most about working for Shanco Companies, Jack said, “The employees and customers are great.”

Jeff Pittington, Project Manager

Jeff joined Shanco Companies in August of 2016 as a project manager on large commercial projects. With over 30 years in the industry, Jeff was immediately the perfect addition to Team Shanco. His expertise in all types of construction projects has proved to be a valuable resource. Jeff is OSHA certified as well as an expert in torch-down roofing.  Originally from Washington, DC, Jeff currently resides in Carroll County. When not spending time with his wife, you will find Jeff out on the golf course. When asked what Jeff liked most about working for Shanco Companies, he said, “the professionalism”.
