Shanco Companies installs many different types of windows, including:
Double-hung windows – one of the most popular types of windows on the market, double-hung windows complement any kind of home. They have upper and lower sashes that slide up and down, allowing for great ventilation. Due to their design, double-hung windows are also easy to clean and maintain.
Casement windows – casement windows feature a single sash and are hinged at one side, swinging out via a crank. Because of the tight seal created between the sash and the frame, casement windows prevent air leakage and are extremely energy-efficient.
Slider windows – like their name suggests, slider windows slide open horizontally. They have one stationary sash and one that glides to the left or right. Like double-hung windows, slider windows are great for letting in a nice breeze on a warm day.
Bay and bow windows – bay windows are large windows that project out from a home, with one large center window and two smaller ones (called flankers) on either side. Bow windows are a curved variation of bay windows – instead of the angular shape of bay windows, they are round and add unique architectural detail to any home (like bay windows).
Picture windows – also called fixed pane windows, picture windows are (usually) large stationary windows. This means they don’t open at all and are very energy-efficient. Picture windows are optimal for maximizing views and highlighting your home’s landscaping.
Tilt windows – these types of windows tilt inward and, like slider and double-hung windows, are ideal if you like to let in a breeze instead of running the AC hard. They are also easy to clean because of their convenient design.
Geometric windows – you’ve probably seen geometric windows before and not just on homes – they are the stained glass cathedral windows found on most churches and they can be found on just about any building. Geometric windows are stationary and can be any unique shape – octagon, circle, semicircle, triangle, etc.
Shanco also installs different brands of windows. Although we often recommend Sunrise vinyl windows, we can install nearly any brand of window on the market. If it’s available in the area, we can get it and install it for you, simple as that. Make Shanco your one-stop shop if you need window contractors in Maryland, Washington, DC or Virginia!
"I wanted to let you know that I am very pleased with the work that your company did at my house. Your office staff people were always very pleasant, everyone showed up when they were supposed to and completed the job. I want to especially thank Jack for the great job he did. Always very professional and courteous, had a “hands on” approach on the entire project from start to finish and was always very accessible!! When I contacted him…he was back to me in less than 15 minutes. I will not hesitate to refer my friends and family to you in the future. Many thanks!!! "-Monrovia, MD
